Sunday’s filled with music courtesy of great local talent who are contributing their time and musical gifts to our fundraiser:
Watershed, a new Toronto-based folk band. Combining folksy instrumentals and rootsy harmonies, Watershed will make you forget your troubles and pull you into their smooth flow.
Fado Blues, featuring Catarina Cardeal and Mike Siracusa pushing the definition of Portuguese Fado to new areas that touch the universal exploration of blues – passionate Portuguese songs with a contemporary twist. Within their first year of formation, Fado Blues was performing to sell out audiences in Toronto and throughout Canada. A favorite of the CBC with several sold out concerts including “live at Glenn Gould” with Jane Bunnett and the Spirits of Havana. Their original rendition to Silent Night (Noite Feliz) can be heard on CBC Sounds of the Season Christmas CD.Fado Blues’ first CD was released with the support of the CBC. For a sampling of their music visit www.fadoblues.com.
Never before have Blake Howard (percussion), Michael-Owen Liston (bass) and Doug Tielli (guitar and trombone) played together …. this is an exciting thing! Freely improvised music amidst the leaves, flowers and fronds.
Remember, all monies fundraised at this event will help support children’s gardens in the St. Jamestown and Cabbagetown communities. Great cause, great party!!
