Carpentry Volunteer

Client group: Youth, ages 15-29

Where: Various school garden sites in the Regent Park, Cabbagetown and St. James Town neighbourhoods

Time commitment: Once a week for a minimum of 6 weeks per season as follows:
Spring: 3 to 5-5:30 pm (10 Garden workshops)
Summer: 3:00-6:00 pm (12 Garden workshops)

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Boundaries: Is not expected to run programs without staff supervision

Duties/Activities/Responsibilities
  • Attend a mandatory one-hour orientation session before starting
  • Collaborate with coordinator about possible carpentry projects
  • Share your knowledge of building and carpentry with youth
  • Engage with staff and other volunteers in program debriefing
Qualifications
  • Connect well and like high school age youth
  • Be willing to get your hands dirty in garden-related activities
  • Be independent and self motivated
